Professor Chen Weirong Led A Delegation to Singapore for Academic Exchanges

From July 31 to August 3 , 2013,Professor Chen Weirong, deputy director of National Rail Transit Electrification and Automation Engineering Technology Research Center (NEEC) ,led a delegation to Nanyang Technological University of Singapore (NTU)and Temasek Polytechnic(TP) to carry out academic exchanges.

The delegation visited TP firstly and got warm reception from Mr. Boo Kheng Hua, the president of Temasek Polytechnic(TP). The results of cooperation between Temasek Polytechnic and Electrical Engineering of Southwest Jiaotong University(SWJTU) got well affirmative by Mr.Boo. Over the past eight years ,there were 68 students completed exchange of learning, and now still three students from SWJTU are conduct master's degree thesis work in Temasek Polytechnic . Dr. Han Ming , Dr. Jia Junbo , etc. in TemasekPolytechnicCleanEnergyResearchCenterconducted the academic exchanges. Professor Chen Weirong introduced the traction power supply SCADA systems, phase power in electrified railway, fuel cell locomotive etc. Dr. Han Ming introduced the research progress in fuel cells and flow batteries , and the introduction of the electric vehicle networks was introduced by Dr. Jia Junbot. After full academic exchanges , both of sides agreed that they would continuously promote the cultivation of students by exchange student program , but also make an great effort to cooperate and exchange in scientific research.

On August 2, the delegation visited theInstituteofElectricaland Electronic Engineering ,NanyangTechnologicalUniversity, and conducted in-depth academic exchanges with Professor Wang Youyi’s team. Professor Liu Zhixiang delivered the thematic report of talk the theme of rail fuel cell technology , More than 30 staffs and students listened to the reports , enthusiastically with warm discussions. Researchers Dr. Zhang Lan from theInstituteofMechanical Engineeringwas particularly interested in indirect sodium borohydride fuel cells and invited the delegation to visit the new Energy Research Center of Mechanical Engineering. The two sides had in-depth academic exchanges and agreed to carry international academic exchanges and cooperation in borohydride hydrogen generation technology.

TheSingaporetrip further fulfilled the academic exchanges and cooperation betweenSouthwestJiaotongUniversityand Temasek Polytechnic ,NanyangTechnologicalUniversity, and extended the field of international cooperation and fruitful achievements. NEEC of the delegation are: Professor Chen Weirong , Professor Ma Lei , Professor Liu Zhixiang , associate professor Dai Chaohua and associate professor Li Qi.
