NEEC successfully developed the first domestic fuel cell electric locomotive. Fuel cell electric locomotive can be used in rail transit station shunting and railway engineering vehicle, especially in the subway, mining and other relatively closed space of rail transit.

It facilitates green environmental protection and promising prospects for application. currently , the project “Fuel cell/super capacitor hybrid 100% low floor trams development” supported by Ministry of Science & Technology  has  been officially launched with the funds of 9.58 million yuan from state funds and 20 million yuan of Tangshan Railway Vehicle Co ., LTD. It exerts significant influence on industry's technological progress with the application of renewable energy in rail transit.
