Prof. Wu Guangning Attends CIGRE 2018

    On August 26, 2018, CIGRE Session 47, the most influential international conference in the field of international electricians, was grandly held in Paris, France. More than 5,000 representatives of power enterprises, scientific research institutions and manufacturing enterprises from 97 countries attended the conference. Zheng Baosen, President of the Chinese Society of Electrical Engineering, Xie Mingliang, vice-president and general secretary of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Li Licheng, academician of CAE and Tang Guangfu, academician of CAE attended the conference. Professor Wu Guangning was invited to attend the conference as the director of the Special Committee on Overhead Lines (SC B2) of CIGRE China National Committee with Mr. Wei Wenfu, secretary of SC B2 of CIGRE China Committee and a member of CIGRE.




      During the conference, professor Wu made an report on "Modeling and Verification of Flowing Air Discharge in Transmission Lines in Wind Environment", which introduced the latest research of transmission line safety protection in China.



      During the meeting, professor Wu communicated with Robert Stephen, President of CIGRE, Herbert Lugschitz, chairman of CIGRE B2 Special Committee, Konstantin Papailiou and other famous experts. Professor Wu has been elected as a member of CIGRE B2 Technical Advisory Group (TAG) and Strategic Advisory Group (SAG) for his outstanding contributions to the formulation and promotion of professional standards for transmission lines.



     CIGRE(the International Council on Large Electric Systems), founded in 1921, is one of the most important power system organizations in the world, which leads the development of International standards for the power industry. It is headquartered in France with 16 professional committees and more than 1,000 overseas power experts. CIGRE will discuss the latest developments and achievements in global power systems, grid equipment and technologies every two years.
