Professor Gao Won 2018 National Science and Technology Award

The National Science and Technology Award Conference was held in Beijing, China, Jan. 8, 2019. Prof. Gao Shi-bin and Prof. Liao Hai-li as the winners attended the conference. The project of "Complete Technology & Equipment For Operation Safety Assurance Of High-speed Railway Pantograph-OCS system" presided by Prof. Gao Shi-bin won the second prize of 2018 National Science and Technology Progress Award.

Professor Liu Zhi-gang, Professor Wu Ji-qin, Associate Professor Chen Qi-zhi and Associate Professor Yu Long as members of the scientific research team, also won the award.

Closely combining the major strategy of national high-speed railway development and the industry demand, the project has conquered the key technologies of operational safety of high-speed Pantograph-OCS system and completed technical security equipment of detection, monitoring, diagnosis, evaluation, and maintenance with independent intellectual property. It has been widely applied to heavy-duty , electrified railway and urban rail transit in all 18 Railway Bureaus in China, and promotes the reform and innovation of the repair system of the catenary, and greatly improves the safe operation and maintenance management.

It is reported that three projects hosted by Southwest Jiaotong University won 2018 National Science and Technology Award. The National Science and Technology Award has awarded 7 scientific experts and 278 projects and, including 38 National Natural Science Awards, 67 National Technological Invention Awards, 173 National Science and Technology Progress Awards. There were 5 foreign scientists who won the International Science and Technology Cooperation Award.
