Recently, the General Office of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee announced the fourth batch of National High-Level Personnel of Special Support Program (Ten Thousand Talents Plan). Professor Liu Zhi-gang was honorably included on the list.

Initiated in 2012, the National High-level Personnel of Special Support Program, or Ten Thousand Talents Plan, aims to select in ten years ten thousand elites, leading Chinese talents and outstanding young Chinese scholars in the fields of natural science, engineering technology, philosophy and social sciences. It is complementary with “the Recruitment Program ofGlobal Experts (Thousand Talents Plan)” to increase personnel reserves.

The list includes 645 leading talents in scientific and technological innovation, 397 in scientific and technological entrepreneurship, 103 famous teachers and 274 top-notch young talents (210 in Natural Sciences, 64 in Philosophy& Social Sciences and Humanities). It is reported that there are 4 scholars of Southwest Jiaotong University on the list.
